Capture3LINCOLN – Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra kicks off the holiday season with the annual pops concert Deck the Halls.This concert takes place Sunday, December 6, at 2:00PM & 6:00PM at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Take a sleigh ride through this concert full of holiday classics and selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. The Lincoln Boys Choir (Burton Schernikau, director) and the Lincoln Christian Crusaders (Phil Boehr, director) as well as mezzo-soprano Adrienne Dickson will join LSO on stage for choral holiday favorites, including Sheperds Run Along, Fum Fum Fum, and O Holy Night. Actor Tim Marrone will join the orchestra for a special telling of A Christmas Carol.

Students from Lincoln Suzuki Studios will make a special appearance with familiar tunes. The Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company will share the stage with the orchestra for selections from The Nutcracker, which will include everyone’s favorites such as Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies and the fiery Trepak. The performance will end with an audience sing-along.

Santa Claus will make a special appearance, and will be available before the concert and during intermission for pictures.

Tim_Marrone post imageWhile Tim Marrone is in Lincoln, he will present “The Grinch” at nine Lincoln schools and Lincoln city libraries. Join us at Gere Library on Wednesday, December 2 at 6:30pm and Anderson Library on Thursday, December 3 at 6:30pm for open-to-the-public performances. Marrone was a founding member of the Maryland-based theatre troupe Theatricks. He regularly performs with symphony orchestras around the country and teaches theatre/movement classes at the Baltimore School of the Arts.

In an effort to make all LSO concerts as accessible as possible, LSO continues with lower ticket prices available for $15 and $30 each, inclusive of all ticketing and handling fees.  Tickets for youth 17 and under are available for $5, made possible by the Lienemann Charitable Foundation.
