LSO celebrates Black History Month with a showcase of one of France’s virtuosic violinists and composers, a contemporary of Mozart named Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Concertmaster Anton Miller performs a violin concerto by each composer (Saint-George’s Concerto in A Major and Mozart’s Turkish). The concert closes with Haydn’s final symphony, Symphony No. 104 in D Major (London).

LSO Gala: The Three Nebraska Tenors | Saturday, March 19, 6-9PM

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra and The Three Nebraska Tenors! LSO is hosting its annual fundraising gala at the Country Club of Lincoln on Saturday, March 19. Guests will enjoy dinner followed by an orchestra concert featuring tenors Drew Duncan, Kevin Hanrahan and Tom Westfall, singing Irish favorites such as Danny Boy, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling and ‘Tis the Last Rose of Summer. The audience will also be treated to everyone’s favorite arias, including Nessun Dorma from Turandot and La Donne e Mobile from Rigoletto. Tickets cost $100 per person; cocktail hour is at 6:00 PM, dinner will be served at 6:45 PM, and the concert will begin at 8:00 PM. LSO Announces Young Artist Competition Winner

Isabella Amador began studying the violin when she was four years old at the Omaha Conservatory of Music where she is a 2015 David Jasper Scholarship recipient. Her primary teachers have been Rosa Flores, Erin Aguirre, and Ruth Meints. Miss Amador has won Orchestra Omaha’s Concerto Competition in junior and senior divisions, Hastings Symphony Concerto Competition (second place), the Millard North High School Concerto competition and the Nebraska MTNA competition “Senior Performance”. Isabella performs regularly with the Frontier String Ensemble and the Omaha Area Youth Orchestra where she is currently concertmaster. In the summers, she has attended Sound Encounters with Brian Lewis, Mountain Top Mastercourse with David Russell, the Innsbrook Music Festival, and Center Stage Strings with Danielle Belen.

Isabella Amador will have the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the orchestra at Nebraska Wesleyan’s O’Donnell Auditorium on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2:00PM. She will also perform on LSO’s Young People’s Concerts at the Lied Center and receive private coaching from LSO Resident Conductor, Dr. Tyler White.
