World-renowned violinist Joshua Bell joins LSO for this season-opening performance. The evening begins with Mendelssohn’s sprightly Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream, depicting the magical aura and dancing fairies of Shakespeare’s play, followed by Schumann’s equally mysterious yet impassioned Fourth Symphony. After intermission, Brahms’ rhapsodic Hungarian Dances Nos. 5 and 6 make way for Joshua Bell to take the stage with Bruch’s famous and much-loved Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor.
