Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra is currently accepting applications for the vacancies listed below. To reserve your audition appointment, please submit and postmark a resume, application, and $35 application fee (refundable upon arrival at audition time) no later than Friday, September 8, 2017 to:

Young Artist Competition

Audition Date: Monday, September 25, 2017 – 4pm-6pm

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra invites young musicians to enter LSO’s 2017-18 Young Artist Competition. Funded in part by the J. Edmunds & Thelma D. Miller Fund at the Lincoln Community Foundation, the competition allows an accomplished young musician to perform with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist.

To be eligible, musicians must be 20 years old or younger on the day of the audition, must play an instrument, participate in an audition and submit the following, postmarked no later than Friday, September 8, 2017:

  • An application
  • A sealed letter of recommendation from current or most recent instructor
  • $25 non-refundable application fee
  • Copy of piano score for LSO-provided accompanist and judges

Musicians must perform one movement of a concerto of their choice with a ten-minute maximum in length. A piano accompanist will be provided for all auditioning musicians. Auditions will be held on Monday, September 25 from 4pm-6pm.

The winner will have the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the orchestra at LSO’s holiday Deck the Halls concerts at the Lied Center. The winner also receives the title of LSO Young Artist Winner for the 2017-18 season, a private rehearsal and coaching with LSO Resident Conductor, Dr. Tyler White, a $500 cash prize, and media exposure.
