Young Artist Competition
The audition & application period is currently closed. Please check back when the application period opens in July; more details and materials will be available at that time. Until then, details regarding the LSO Young Artist Competition may be found below:
Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra invites young musicians to enter its annual Young Artist Competition. Funded in part by the J. Edmunds & Thelma D. Miller Fund at the Lincoln Community Foundation, the competition allows an accomplished young musician to perform with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist.
To be eligible, musicians must be 20 years old or younger on the day of the audition, must play an instrument, participate in an audition and submit an application, a sealed letter of recommendation from a current or most recent instructor, a $25 non-refundable application fee, and a copy of the piano score for the LSO-provided accompanist and judges.
Musicians must perform one movement of a concerto of their choice with a ten-minute maximum in length. A piano accompanist will be provided for all auditioning musicians.
The winner will have the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the orchestra at LSO’s holiday Deck the Halls concerts at the Lied Center. The winner also receives the title of LSO Young Artist Winner for the current season, a private rehearsal and coaching with LSO Resident Conductor, Dr. Tyler White, a $500 cash prize, and media exposure.
